Hey everyone! Ren here. Hope everyone had an amazing holiday! I know I did.

Here is the only cold and flu remedy you’ll ever need. This recipe takes a bit of patience but once it’s made you can keep it on hand any time you feel a cold coming on.

This remedy was one of my grandmothers and has deep roots in folk medicine. It has an amazing combination of vinegar infused with herbal anti-microbial and decongestants, not to mention it helps boost your immune system

Cold and Flu Remedy

1/2 part fresh grated organic ginger root

1 part grated organic horseradish root

1 medium organic onion, chopped

10 cloves of organic garlic, crushed or chopped

1/4 tsp organic Cayenne Powder

organic apple cider vinegar to cover everything up

raw local honey to taste*

2 organic jalapeño peppers, chopped*

Zest and juice from 1 organic lemon*

Several sprigs of fresh organic rosemary *

1 tbsp organic turmeric powder*

* Ingredients Optional

Prepare herbs and veggies and put them in your mason jar.

(BTW If you’ve never grated fresh horseradish, be prepared for some crazy snot to come out of your nose!)

Cover with Apple Cider Vinegar and closer the container.

Shake well!

Store in a dark, cool place for one month and remember to shake daily.

After one month, use cheesecloth or a french press (for herbs only) to strain out the pulp.Try and get as much liquidy goodness out of your concoction.

If needed (I’m not a huge fan)  Add 1/4 cup of honey and stir until it’s all mixed in (you can taste test till you find the sweetness you like)

Here’s an Herbal Video of how to make it.

  1. I love the video! You are so fun to watch – and I learned something awesome! Wish I had some on hand. Dave has got s bad cold – boo! Will definitely be making a batch of this for the future. Once you strain it, how do you keep it and for how long?

    1. Hey Stephanie,
Thanks! Poor Dave! I hope he feels better, Josh fights me on it, but I try to give him plain apple cider vinegar diluted in water when he’s sick if I don’t have any on hand. It usually does the trick. I highly recommend it. Mine is almost done. I can send you some, but I hope he wont be sick that long. Once its strained it will last for 6 months, and if kept out of temperature fluctuations it will last for a whole year! I love the stuff.
