It’s a beautiful rainy day in Southern California, and trust me, we need it now more than ever. This drought has been horrible for me and my garden.
Growing up in South Florida where it seemed to rain every day (who ever called it the sunshine state lied) I have missed the sounds and smells of rain. Now that it’s here I’m spending the rest of the day with the windows open in my “Comfy Cozies”, and sipping some delicious herbal tea. In our theme of the holidays (Happy Hanukkah, to the tribe! ) I wanted to share a nice herbal tea blend you can make yourself.
For many of us, this is the season for a fair amount of stress and tension, and lonely pocketbooks. People get a little edgy, a bit short-tempered, and by people, I mean me too! Guilty as charged.
When the stressors of the season start to turn me into a grinch, a soothing cup of calming tea is in order…and this recipe is ideal!
Deck The Halls Soothing Tea Blend
1 teaspoon organic Damiana Leaf
1 teaspoon organic Spearmint Leaf
1/2 teaspoon organic Alfalfa Leaf
1/2 teaspoon organic Barberries
1/2 teaspoon organic California Poppy
1/2 teaspoon organic Elder Flowers
Combine all the herbs in an infuser, nest, or place into a tea bag.
Pour 1 1/2 – 2 cups of boiling water over and let steep for 3-5 minutes.
I’m not a huge fan of honey, but if you prefer your tea sweeter , yet without all the Sugar, honey is definitely the best.
Now relax, find a cozy spot, listen to the rain and tune out the world for a few minutes.
